Paradise is so close, yet so far away. We want it, so we create our own hell.
Instead of saying:
I have health, I can move, I have friends and many acquaintances. And yet we are chasing a ghost that cannot be grasped. As soon as we think we have caught up with it, it disappears behind the next brick wall.
But what were we looking for?
For more?
For what more? We already have everything we need, and it's still not enough. What is status if, years later, I have to live with a sick heart. I can no longer move? Will status give me back my health? What is money if I can lose it again due to adverse circumstances?
The more a man has, the more he can lose. Do he still have friends? Real friends? Or are they gone if the time comes when all the money is gone? What good is money to me if I can't handle a partner? Bring flowers, a ring, maybe a mink fur. What if all of that is no longer possible?
Will the awakening finally come? Then comes the thought:
Wasn't it beautiful back then? I was healthy, had everything I needed. Now that I have less, I can't cope anymore. Then comes the fall. The fear of what might still be to come. So you, little human, have now accomplished it, you have created your own hell. You earned money and fame, and this very thing brought you down. With a huge bang and a creaking crash, your wonderful things are now shattering. You can't keep any of them anymore. You should be happy if you can hold on to your life. Is it it, or where do you want to go? Is there any insight for you now?
You wanted paradise, now you have it. You're right there. You already have everything you need. But what do you know?
Is it paradise? You laughed at others who didn't have as much power, fame, and money as you. Poor wretch, can you now feel him breaking your bones?
He's laughing, and rightly so. He was looking for this. He lives in paradise, and not badly at that. Open your eyes and take paradise. It will be cared for and nurtured. The bigger it is, the more you have to nurture and nurture it.
Don't even try to cross the line and take. It will grow bigger and bigger all by itself.
