I would actually describe myself best as a guitarist and singer. But I've always been fascinated by good bass players. A new era began in the mid-70s when Stanley Clarke and others stepped out of the shadows of being only an accompanist and showed what it was like when the bass was used as a solo instrument. One of my absolute favorites was Wayman Tisdale, who unfortunately died far too early. There was so much vitality and musicality in his bass playing that you simply couldn't escape it. I asked Karsten if he would like to play a tribute song for Wayman with me. He said yes, and so the cover of "Watch me play" was born. A song that expresses exactly what I have quoted above.
